Context and Bronze Plaques

tree of lifePeople are the same everywhere. It’s only their context that changes. They like to be vigorous and studious at different times, they enjoy pleasure and being happy, they sympathize with their common man, more so depending on their shared context: religion, nationality, race.

It’s interesting to see how differently context can affect people. Those who live in hot places develop different habits than those who live in cold, siestas for example. And the way they treat their dead, and how they give back to the community in legacies can also change from place to place.

Many people with a lot of money give it back to their community, and they are commemorated with bronze plaques or memorial plaques of another kind. Typically the more money they have, the more open they are with who they give it to. Billionaires open foundations, millionaires keep it in the family. There’s nothing wrong with this; money is another form of context, it allows us certain things and means certain things to certain people. And the funny thing is, it’s mostly uncertain. Wills often leave one kind of surprise or another, markets fluctuate, fortunes shrink.

But while certain customs change according to context, behavior does not. Everyone who receives a gift always says thanks, and depending on the size and their resource, with bronze plaques or not.
