Bronze Plaques, Memorial Plaques, Donor Walls, Tree of Life and more…
Have you heard about interactive donor walls? They’ve been showing up in various large locations, notably the St. Louis Holocaust Museum. They have touch screens that let you scroll through and see various donors. While a neat idea, there’s something to be said for actual bronze plaques.
What if the interactive wall has a technical issue? People will be disappointed if they go to see their name and find out the whole thing is down. It also doesn’t have a constant display of all the names as a permanent donor wall would. You’d have to scroll through to find yourself or your friend who donated, which in theory is cool, but there’s something nice about it just being there permanently for all to see, all the time.
So while going high tech may be the wave of the future with all the other advances that have come about, for now, it may be best to stick with bronze plaques and traditional donor walls. There’s something beautiful and traditional about them. The engravings are far more permanent and are aesthetically more pleasing than just a television screen. Besides, it saves you having to constantly clean those fingerprints.
